ESFA join Mental Change Promoters Association, HIMS, HIC during the launch of the project on ‘Youth Empowerment Program in the South West Region of Cameroon’
On 26 March 2023, Ethical and Sustainable Future for All (ESFA) joined Mental Change Promoters Association, Higher Institute of Management Studies (HIMS) and Her Innovation Cameroon in the launched of the 20th Batch of the Mental Change Vocational Training Program. This was in line with an ongoing project ‘Youth Empowerment Program in the South West Region of Cameroon” aimed at empowering youths (mostly girls) on IT applications such as accounting software and computer software’s. The event which took place in the training Centre at HIMS, Buea-South West Region was very successful as more than 50 trainees were graduated while more than 30 students were admitted to start training in April.
The president of ESFA, Berinyuy Cajetan and our Gender Officer, Yong Harriet represented ESFA during the event.
The aim of the program is to train students in basic computer skills and especially accounting software. The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of MCPA, Dr Fai Edward, during his opening speech, reminded the students that the training is the flagship program of the MCPA to train especially women and girls on basic computer skills. He thanks the management of HIMS for the space, and also thanked ESFA and HIC that accepted to be partners to the initiative.
A brief speech from the management of HIMS enlightened the participants on the available programs at HIMS and encouraged the graduating students and other participants to use the opportunities available at HIMS to further their education. Included was the special program “STUDY NOW PAY LATER” (SNPL) currently offered by HIMS wherein you can study at the institution on a loan, and later, the institution will secure a job for you and you will from the proceeds refund the institution.
The Representative of the HIC, Mr Shing Praise reiterated that the recently launched training program will take into consideration more vulnerable women and girls and that their partners were looking for funds to support these vulnerable women and girls to register for the program. The President of ESFA, Berinyuy Cajetan, maintained that there is a need for students to always engage in voluntary services. He further stated that MCPA, ESFA, and HIC are willing to help facilitate in case students are in need of help in engaging in voluntary services in various institutions, especially within the domain of Civil Society Space.
At the end of the event Dr. Fai Edwards Berinyuy again expressed his gratitude to the partnered organization and students.
